About this tool
Generate ready-to-paste Google Ads descriptions from proven ad-copy templates.
The Google Ads Description Writer turns a short product or service summary into five ready-to-paste ad descriptions, every one trimmed to the 90-character limit Google enforces on responsive search ad descriptions. You type up to 200 characters describing what you sell, and the tool drops the opening words of that text into a bank of proven direct-response patterns — benefit-led, price-led, urgency-led and trust-led — then shows the exact character count next to each line and a copy button beside it. It is built for anyone drafting a search campaign who keeps running over the limit and having to rewrite by hand.
Open Google Ads Writer on AltFTool — it loads instantly in your browser.
Type what you sell into 'Product or Service Description' — the counter reads Characters: n/200 and shows 'Too long!' once you pass 200.
Click 'Generate Descriptions'; the button stays disabled while the box is empty or over the 200-character limit.
Under 'Generated Descriptions' read the five lines with their own character counts and click the copy icon beside whichever one you want.
Every generated line is truncated to Google's description limit, so nothing you copy will be rejected on paste.
Each batch is drawn at random from 40 distinct call-to-action patterns, so repeat runs give you new variants rather than the same rewrite.
Your input is metered against 200 characters and each output shows its own length, so you can see the fit before you paste into the ad group.
90 characters, including spaces. That is the limit for descriptions in responsive search ads; headlines are shorter at 30 characters each. This tool truncates every generated description to 90 characters so it always fits.
You can supply up to 4 descriptions per responsive search ad, and Google recommends filling all of them so the system has more combinations to test. The tool returns 5 per run, giving you a spare to swap in when one underperforms.
They are template-driven, not bespoke copy: your input text is slotted into established ad-copy structures such as 'Buy X at the best price' or 'Get premium X with fast delivery'. Treat the output as a fast starting draft and edit in your own offer, brand name or differentiator before publishing.
Because a 90-character description cannot carry more than a short product phrase. The counter under the box reads Characters: n/200, and past 200 it keeps reading Characters: n/200 and a red Too long! appears beside it, while the Generate Descriptions button stays disabled until you trim. Even inside the limit each pattern only uses the opening 28 to 38 characters of what you typed, so lead with the product and its main benefit.
