The Cost Per Blog Post AI Calculator works out what one AI-assisted blog post actually costs by adding your monthly AI subscription to the human editing time behind it: editing cost = posts x minutes per post x hourly rate / 60, and cost per post = (AI cost + editing cost) / posts. You enter four numbers — posts per month, monthly AI or tool spend, editing minutes per post, and the editor's hourly rate — and get the monthly total plus the per-post figure. The subscription is divided by the posts you actually publish, so the per-post figure falls as volume rises.
Cost per post = (monthly AI/tool cost + editing cost) / posts per month, where editing cost = posts x editing minutes x hourly rate / 60. With the default inputs — 20 posts, $99 of tooling, 45 minutes each at $25 an hour — editing comes to $375, the monthly total is $474, and each post costs $23.70.
Because human editing usually dominates. In the default example editing is $375 of a $474 monthly total, about 79% — the tool fee is the smaller line. Cutting editing minutes moves the number far more than switching to a cheaper plan.
Only if you fold them into the two inputs it accepts. Stock images, illustration fees and freelance research are not separate fields, so add them to the monthly tool cost, and put fact-checking, internal linking and title/meta review into the editing minutes per post.
It depends on draft quality and how technical the topic is, and the honest answer is to measure your own for a month rather than adopt a benchmark. Time three or four real posts end to end, including fact-checking and link insertion, and use that average — the number tends to rise when draft quality drops, which is exactly what this calculator is meant to expose.
