For transfers on or after 23 July 2024, short-term gains under section 111A are taxed at 20% and long-term gains under section 112A at 12.5% on the amount above the annual exemption, plus 4% cess. Both rates are editable in the tool.
For property sold on or after 23 July 2024 the headline LTCG rate is 12.5% without indexation. Resident individuals and HUFs who acquired the property before that date may instead pay 20% with indexation if it works out lower, and this calculator computes both.
