Carry the printed appointment confirmation with its barcode, the centre's own document checklist ticked and signed, your original passport, the signed application form, every supporting document listed, and a self-attested photocopy of each sheet. Bring the fee in the exact form that centre accepts — payment policy is set locally and personal cheques are typically refused.
Most centres have a copy desk, but it is chargeable and the queue for it frequently runs longer than the appointment slot. Print one self-attested copy of every page at home, including the passport bio page and, for Indian passports, the last page carrying the address.
It depends on the service. Schengen visa applications capture ten fingerprints and a facial image, except for children under 12, who are exempt under Article 13 of the EU Visa Code and whose Schengen prints are reused for 59 months. Indian passport, OCI and other consular services have no live biometric capture at the counter.
No. Backpacks, handbags, laptops, tablets, cameras, power banks and USB drives are refused at security, and most centres have no cloakroom or only a small paid locker that fills early. Bring documents loose in a slim folder, and treat your phone as something that may be taken at the door.
