About this tool
Split a restaurant bill, group trip expenses, a shared shopping cart or a student mess bill fairly, with tax, tip and unequal shares.
Pick the bill type, add people and amounts and see who owes whom. This page brings together 4 separate bill splitter pages (Cart, Group, Restaurant, Student mess) so you can compare them without hunting for the right one.
Open Bill Splitter on AltFTool — it loads instantly in your browser.
Choose your bill at the top: Cart, Group, Restaurant, Student mess. On a phone it is a drop-down list.
Fill in the bill splitter for that bill; each of the 4 options keeps its own rules, data and defaults.
Read the result, then switch bill to compare. The page link keeps your bill (?v=cart), so you can bookmark or share it.
Cart, Group, Restaurant and the rest sit behind one picker, so switching bill takes a tap instead of a new search.
Every bill keeps its own rules, numbers and defaults rather than one generic template.
The link remembers the bill you picked, so a bookmark or a shared link opens straight on it.
4: Cart, Group, Restaurant, Student mess. Pick one at the top of the tool; the page link updates (for example ?v=cart) so you can bookmark or share that exact view.
In proportion to what each person ordered, which is what this tool does. On a ₹1,000 order with 5% tax, someone whose items came to ₹200 pays ₹10 of the ₹50, not ₹12.50. Splitting shared charges per head overcharges the person who ordered least — the standard fix is to apportion by subtotal.
It computes each person's balance — what they paid minus their share of everything they were part of — then repeatedly settles the largest outstanding debt against the largest outstanding credit. This greedy matching clears the group in at most one payment fewer than the number of people, rather than one payment per pair.
Assign each item to the person or people who ordered it, then apply tax and tip proportionally to each person's item subtotal. This tool does exactly that: your total is your items × (1 + tax% + tip%), which is why the individual amounts still sum to the printed bill.
Split the bill in two parts: fixed costs (cook's salary, gas, wifi) equally among everyone, and the food cost by days present. Compute a per-day rate — food cost divided by total member-days — and charge each person that rate times their days, which is exactly the rebate logic hostel messes use.
