Web app vs app store apps
Many age detector apps follow the same pattern: an install, a sign-in, adverts or a subscription, and your photo sent to a server for analysis. A web app skips most of that. There is nothing to install and nothing to update, it works the same on iPhone, Android and desktop, and there is no account to create. Because this one runs the face models inside the browser, the photo never needs to leave your phone.
The trade-off is that the models must be small enough to download and run quickly on a phone. That is one reason the tool shows a range and a quality meter instead of a precise-looking single number.
Putting it on your home screen
The site has a web app manifest, so most phone browsers let you add it to your home screen. On iPhone and iPad, open the page in Safari, tap the Share button and choose Add to Home Screen. On Android, open the browser menu in Chrome and choose Install app or Add to Home screen. Depending on the browser, the icon opens this page or the AltFTool home page, from which the detector is one tap away. If you only need it now and then, a bookmark works just as well.
Camera, gallery and group photos on mobile
- Selfies: open the camera, use the front camera and capture for the full analysis.
- Live mode: turn Live on in the camera window to see a quick age label over each face as you move.
- Gallery: pick a JPG, PNG or WebP photo; HEIC photos open in Safari, and other browsers may need a JPG copy.
- Group photos: every face found gets its own numbered result and the group summary shows the average, youngest and oldest estimate.
- Batch: add up to 30 photos from the gallery at once and download the table as a CSV.
- Extras: switch to the Symmetry, Dark circles, Emotion, Face shape or Smile analysis on the same photo.
Privacy compared with typical apps
When an app sends your photo to a server, you have to trust what happens to it there: how long it is kept, who can see it and whether it is used for training. Here, the photo is read straight into the page and analysed by the browser on your own phone. There is no upload step, so there is no server copy. Recent scans are off unless you turn them on, and even then they store only the numbers in your browser, never the image.
The share card works the same way: the image is drawn on your phone, and it is only sent anywhere if you choose a destination in the share sheet. You can blur or hide the photo on the card first.
What it cannot do
Like every age detector app, it estimates how old a face looks in one photo. It can be wrong by many years, it is less reliable for children, older adults and some skin tones, and it can be fooled by a photo of a photo. It is not an age verification app and must never be used to decide whether someone is old enough for something or to identify anyone.
