Connect to networks and pair Bluetooth accessories
The Deck's Wi-Fi drives every download and update, and Bluetooth is how you pair headphones, controllers, and keyboards. Both live in the same Quick Settings panel for fast access without leaving your game.
What you should know
- Press the ... (Quick Access) button, then select the network icon tab to see available Wi-Fi networks, signal strength, and 'Manage Wi-Fi Networks'.
- Bluetooth pairing is in the same Quick Access panel under the Bluetooth tab — toggle Bluetooth on, then Add a Bluetooth Device.
- For advanced options (forgetting networks, static IP, proxy), go to STEAM button > Settings > Network.
- Airplane Mode is a single toggle at the top of the Quick Access network tab that disables both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth at once.
Why it matters
A weak or dropped Wi-Fi connection is the most common cause of stalled downloads and cloud-save conflicts, and a mis-paired Bluetooth device can silently steal audio output from a game without any obvious on-screen warning.
Best practices
- Forget and re-add a network after a router replacement instead of troubleshooting a stale saved connection.
- Rename Bluetooth devices with distinct names in their own apps first, so the Deck's device list isn't full of ambiguous 'Headphones' entries.
- Turn on Airplane Mode during travel to save battery when you don't need downloads or online play.
Common problems and fixes
- Deck won't see a 5GHz Wi-Fi network
- Confirm the router's 5GHz band isn't hidden and isn't using a channel/width the Deck's radio doesn't support (try channel 36-48 auto).
- Bluetooth headphones connect but no audio plays
- Open Quick Settings > Bluetooth, select the device, and confirm it's marked as the active audio output — the Deck can stay 'connected' to a device without routing sound to it.
Tips and tricks
- If a download keeps stalling near 99%, toggle Wi-Fi off and back on from Quick Settings — this often resets a stuck connection faster than restarting the Deck.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use a wired Ethernet connection instead?
Yes, via a USB-C dock or adapter with an Ethernet port — the Deck will automatically prefer the wired connection once it's plugged in.
