AltF Vault
Encrypted secure notes
Keep private text such as ID numbers, alarm codes, bank details or a will location as encrypted secure notes. Each note is sealed with AES-256-GCM in your browser and stored only on this device, so AltFTool never sees it. Open the vault below and choose Add, then Secure note.
- Free, no account
- Encrypted on your device
- Works offline
- Not yet independently audited
Good things to keep in a secure note
- Passport, PAN, Aadhaar or national ID numbers and expiry dates.
- Bank account and IFSC details, locker numbers and branch contacts.
- Door, alarm and safe codes.
- Where your will, insurance papers and property documents are kept.
- Answers to security questions (better: random answers you store here).
Notes are not searchable by content, on purpose
Search covers titles and tags only. That keeps sensitive text off the screen while you look for something. Give each note a clear title and a tag such as documents or banking.
Encrypted secure notes: questions and answers
Are my notes uploaded anywhere?
No. They are encrypted in the page and saved in this browser only. Use the encrypted backup to keep a copy elsewhere.
How long can a note be?
Up to 20,000 characters each, with line breaks kept.
Can I attach files or photos?
Not in the vault. For files, use the Encrypted Local File Vault tool linked on this page, which encrypts files on your device.
Can I share a note?
There is no sharing feature, because it would need a server. Copy the text and send it through an end-to-end encrypted messenger if you must.
