AltF Vault

Offline password manager with no account

AltF Vault is a password manager without a cloud: no account to create, no server holding your data, and no internet needed once the page has loaded. Your vault is encrypted with AES-256 and stays in this browser. The trade-off is that there is no sync, so you move it with an encrypted backup file.

  • Free, no account
  • Encrypted on your device
  • Works offline
  • Not yet independently audited

Who an offline vault suits

  • People who do not want an account or a company holding their passwords.
  • Shared or work computers where you cannot install software (use a private profile and a backup).
  • Keeping a second, separate copy of recovery codes and critical notes.
  • Trying a password manager before committing to one.

When to choose something else

If you need autofill, sync across phone and laptop, family sharing or an independently audited product, use an established password manager. KeePassXC is a free, audited offline option that stores a file you control; Bitwarden is a free, audited option with sync.

Offline password manager with no account: questions and answers

Does it really work without internet?

Yes, after the page has loaded once. Unlock, edit, lock and backup all run in the page. Only the optional breach check needs a connection.

Can I use it on my phone?

Yes, in a mobile browser. Each browser has its own vault, so use the encrypted backup to copy it between phone and computer.

Is there autofill?

No. There is no browser extension yet, so you copy and paste. Copied secrets are cleared from the clipboard after 30 seconds by default.

Is an offline password manager safer than a cloud one?

It removes the risk of a server breach and account takeover, but adds the risk of losing your only copy. With good backups, either can be safe. Audited products have had independent checks that AltF Vault has not had yet.

Free tools that work with the vault

AltFTool stores nothing from your vault. It is encrypted and kept in your browser; the only optional network request is the k-anonymity breach check.
