Buying guide

How to get a real deal on travel

Luggage is one of the most discounted categories in Indian online shopping, especially trolley bags, whose MRPs are often set high and whose sale prices sit well below them most of the year. A good bag has to survive years of airport handling, train racks and auto boots, so build quality matters more than the percentage off.

Check the size against your airline's rules: domestic cabin allowances usually cap both weight and dimensions, and the measurement includes the wheels. Hard shells (polycarbonate or polypropylene) resist knocks; soft bags expand and weigh less. Look for reviews about wheels, zips and the handle, and check what the warranty actually covers.

What counts as a good discount

As a rule of thumb, 40–60% off MRP is normal for luggage; judge the deal against the bag's recent selling price, where 15–25% lower is genuinely good.

Best time to buy

Luggage prices usually dip in the festive sales (late September to October) and ahead of holiday seasons, and Prime Day (usually July) brings good offers too. See the sale calendar

Before you buy

  • Check dimensions including wheels against your airline's cabin limit
  • Compare empty weight; a lighter bag leaves more allowance for packing
  • Look for smooth spinner wheels and a sturdy handle
  • Check the shell material: polycarbonate, polypropylene or fabric
  • See whether it has a number or TSA lock
  • Read the warranty: which parts and what kind of damage it covers

Watch out for

  • Cabin sizes quoted without the wheels
  • Warranties that exclude wheels, handles or airline damage
  • Very low prices on unknown brands with weak zips
  • “Set of 3” deals when you only need one size

Travel & Luggage deals: common questions

What size cabin bag can I take on Indian domestic flights?

Most domestic airlines allow one cabin bag of about 7 kg, with dimensions in the region of 55 × 35 × 25 cm including wheels and handles. Rules vary by airline and fare, so check your ticket before you buy.

Is hard or soft luggage better?

Hard shells protect contents better and handle rain well, while soft bags are lighter, can expand and squeeze into tight spaces. Polycarbonate shells are usually tougher than polypropylene.

Does luggage warranty cover airline damage?

Often it does not; many warranties cover only manufacturing defects. Read the terms, and report airline damage to the airline before you leave the airport.
