Buying guide

How to get a real deal on home

Home and furnishing deals cover bedsheets, curtains, lighting, storage, mattresses and decor, and this is where “set of” listings and vague descriptions are most common. A sheet sold as king size may not fit an Indian king bed, and thread counts are sometimes quoted without much meaning behind them.

Measure first: bed, window height, shelf depth. Then compare fabric, size and care instructions alongside the price. Product photos are often styled, so look for customer photos and reviews that mention colour, thickness and how things hold up after washing. For lighting and smart-home items, check the fitting type and whether the app works on your phone.

What counts as a good discount

As a rule of thumb, 30–50% off the usual selling price is common and fair for furnishings; anything claiming more is worth checking against its recent price.

Best time to buy

Home deals are usually widest in the festive sales (late September to October), when many people refresh their homes before Diwali, and again in the Republic Day sale. See the sale calendar

Before you buy

  • Measure the bed, window or space before you buy
  • Check fabric and dimensions, not just the photo
  • Look at customer photos for the real colour
  • Check care instructions and colour-fastness
  • Confirm the bulb fitting (B22 or E27) for lighting
  • Check the return policy for bulky items

Watch out for

  • Bed sizes that don't match standard Indian beds
  • Thread counts quoted without fabric details
  • Styled photos that hide thin fabric
  • Bulky items that are hard or costly to return

Home & Furnishing deals: common questions

What size bedsheet fits an Indian double bed?

Indian queen beds are usually around 60 × 78 inches and king beds around 72 × 78 inches. A flat sheet of about 90 × 100 inches tucks in well on a queen bed; for fitted sheets, also check the depth against your mattress.

Does a higher thread count mean a better bedsheet?

Not always. Fibre quality and weave matter as much. A well-made 200–300 thread count cotton sheet can feel better and last longer than a high-count blend.

Can I return a mattress bought online?

Many brands offer a trial period, but terms vary and some charge for pickup. Read the return and trial policy on the listing before you buy.
