Buying guide

How to get a real deal on audio

Wireless earbuds and headphones are among the most heavily discounted products in India, and the printed MRP is often far above what they normally sell for. A pair can show a huge percentage off almost every day of the year, which says more about the MRP than about the deal.

Rather than chasing the biggest number, decide what matters to you: call quality, noise cancellation, battery life, a secure fit for workouts, or low latency for gaming. Then compare a few models at the price you want to pay. Reviews about mic quality, connection drops and how the battery holds up after a few months are worth more than the star rating alone.

What counts as a good discount

A rule of thumb: judge audio deals against the usual selling price, not the MRP; 15–30% below that going price is a genuinely good deal.

Best time to buy

Audio deals usually peak on Prime Day (July) and in the festive sales (late September to October), and brand stores often join Black Friday offers in late November. See the sale calendar

Before you buy

  • Compare with the usual selling price, not the MRP
  • Check whether it has real ANC or only “ENC” for calls
  • Check the Bluetooth version and codecs your phone supports
  • Check the warranty and how service works in your city
  • Read reviews about mic quality and connection drops
  • Pick the right fit: ear tips, ear hooks or over-ear size

Watch out for

  • Listings that are “70% off” all year on an inflated MRP
  • Battery life quoted with the case, at low volume
  • Call-only “ENC” marketed as noise cancellation
  • Look-alikes of popular models from unknown sellers

Headphones & Earbuds deals: common questions

What is the difference between ANC and ENC?

ANC (active noise cancellation) reduces outside noise while you listen. ENC (environmental noise cancellation) mainly cleans up your voice on calls. Many budget earbuds advertise ENC, which does not quieten the world around you.

Why are earbuds always shown at 60–70% off?

Because the MRP printed on many budget audio products is set far above the normal selling price. Compare with what the same pair sold for over the past few weeks instead.

Do Bluetooth codecs matter?

For most people, fit and tuning matter more. Codecs such as AAC or LDAC only help if your phone supports the same codec.
