Buying guide

How to get a real deal on kitchen

Kitchen and dining covers everything from steel bottles and cookware to mixer grinders, air fryers and electric kettles. Discounts are frequent, and combo packs and “set of” listings can make prices hard to compare.

Work out the price per piece or per litre, and check the material: the grade of stainless steel, the type of non-stick coating, or whether cookware works on induction. For appliances, wattage, jar sizes and the motor warranty matter more than the headline discount. Indian cooking is hard on mixers and non-stick pans, so reviews from people who have used a product for a few months are especially useful here.

What counts as a good discount

A rule of thumb: 25–40% off the usual price is good for cookware and storage, and 15–30% is good for branded appliances like mixers and air fryers.

Best time to buy

Kitchen deals are usually strongest in the festive sales (late September to October) and the Republic Day and Independence Day sales, when appliance brands add bank offers. See the sale calendar

Before you buy

  • Compare the price per piece in sets and combos
  • Check whether cookware works on induction
  • Look for food-grade materials such as 304 stainless steel or BPA-free plastic
  • Check the motor wattage and motor warranty on mixers
  • Make sure jar sizes or capacity suit your household
  • Read reviews written after a few months of use

Watch out for

  • “Set of 12” listings that count lids as pieces
  • Non-stick coatings that wear off quickly
  • Appliance warranties that exclude the motor or jars
  • Capacity claims larger than the real usable volume

Kitchen & Dining deals: common questions

What wattage mixer grinder suits Indian cooking?

For everyday wet and dry grinding, 500–750 watts handles most kitchens. If you grind batter or tough spices often, a 750-watt or stronger motor and a sturdy jar set will last better.

Is a bigger air fryer always better?

Not necessarily. A basket of around 4 litres suits one to three people; larger families may want 5–6 litres. Bigger models take more counter space and power.

How do I compare cookware sets?

Count only the pieces you will use, check the base thickness and induction compatibility, and compare with buying the two or three pans you need on their own.
