Connecting your ESP to match campaigns in your inbox
5 min read
The ESP Connector links your email service provider account to the extension so it can recognise which messages in your own seed inboxes belong to a specific campaign. Instead of filtering by sender alone, you pick a campaign and the extension finds its messages. Brevo is live, MailerLite and Klaviyo are built, SendGrid and Mailchimp are untested, and Mailgun and Amazon SES are coming soon.
Why match by campaign
If you send several campaigns from the same address, filtering by sender cannot tell them apart. Matching by campaign lets you check one send at a time: did it arrive in each seed mailbox, does it render correctly, and do its links work.
Current provider support
Support is being rolled out provider by provider. Statuses here describe the connector at the time of writing.
- Brevo: live
- MailerLite and Klaviyo: built
- SendGrid and Mailchimp: untested
- Mailgun and Amazon SES: coming soon
Keeping it clean
Connect only ESP accounts you own or are authorised to use, and use the narrowest API permission your provider offers for reading campaign details. Keep seed mailbox activity out of your reporting where possible so engagement numbers reflect real subscribers.
Step by step
- 1Create an API key. In your ESP account, create an API key with the least access needed to read campaign information.
- 2Open ESP Connector. Open the extension, go to ESP Connector and choose your provider.
- 3Paste and save the key. Enter the API key and save. The connector lists your recent campaigns.
- 4Pick a campaign. Select the campaign you want to check in your seed mailboxes.
- 5Run and review. Start a run in each seed mailbox and review the local activity log for matches.
Frequently asked questions
Which ESPs are supported?
Brevo is live. MailerLite and Klaviyo are built, SendGrid and Mailchimp are untested, and Mailgun and Amazon SES are coming soon.
Can I connect a client's ESP account?
Only if you are authorised to use it. The connector is meant for campaigns you own or manage with permission.
Will seed mailbox activity affect my campaign stats?
It can, because opens and clicks from seed mailboxes are recorded like any other. Exclude seed addresses from reporting where your ESP allows it.
