Tips for this list

  1. Post something new on each platform. A side story, a poem or the first part of a serial works; copying whole books across creates duplicate content and annoys readers.

  2. Put the link in your profile or author note, not in the story text. Writing communities remove posts that read like adverts.

  3. Stay active. A profile with real chapters, replies to readers and a regular schedule earns far more visits than a bare listing.

Questions

Where can I get backlinks as a fiction writer?
Story platforms, poetry communities and book sites with author profiles. This list has 25 of them, each with what to post and the house rules.
Are links from story sites dofollow?
Mostly not. Profile and story links on writing platforms are usually nofollow or ugc. Their value is readers: people who like your work click through, and some of them link to you from blogs and lists.
Can I post the same story on several sites?
Some platforms allow it and some ask for exclusives, so check each one. For search, it is better to keep the full story on your own site and post excerpts, side stories or different work elsewhere.
