Open Raindrop.iodel.icio.us popularised tagging, the shared bookmark and the idea that what other people saved was itself a search index. It passed through Yahoo, AVOS and Science Inc., lost its community at each handover, and was finally folded into Pinboard in 2017. Its real legacy is that almost every tagging interface since is a copy of its first one.

Yes. Delicious sends your input to its own servers to process it. That is fine for public material; for anything containing personal data, use one of the on-device tools instead.
