The honest difference is architectural, not commercial. PDF24 uploads and processes server-side, which is why OCR and heavy compression work well there; AltFTool processes locally, which is why nothing is uploaded but also why big scanned files depend on your hardware. If uploading is not a problem for your document, PDF24 is a completely reasonable choice.
