Fill in the Applicant card — Full name (as in passport), Nationality, Passport number, Passport expiry date, Occupation, Employer or institution, Home address, and Email and phone.

A Visitor visa is normally granted with a stay period of 3, 6 or 12 months from each entry, and the grant notice states which. The visa may also carry condition 8558, which stops a non-resident staying more than 12 months in any 18-month period, so back-to-back long visits can breach it even when each individual stay is allowed.
No work at all is permitted, and study or training is capped at three months. If you need to study longer, a Student visa (subclass 500) is the correct pathway. Working on a visitor visa breaches your conditions and can lead to cancellation.
Clause 600.211 of Schedule 2 to the Migration Regulations 1994 requires the case officer to be satisfied that you genuinely intend to stay temporarily for the purpose you claim. Officers weigh your reason for travel, personal circumstances, financial capacity, ties at home and any immigration history — which is exactly what a good supporting statement addresses.
Public Interest Criterion 4020 lets the department refuse a visa where a bogus document or false or misleading information has been given, and it normally carries a three-year bar on further visas — ten years where identity is in question.
