About this tool

Vehicle Unit Converter

Convert fuel economy between km/l, mpg and L/100km, vehicle speed between km/h and mph, and speed limit signs between countries.

Pick the conversion and enter the value from your car, sign or spec sheet. This page brings together 3 separate vehicle unit converter pages (Fuel economy, Speed limit, Speed) so you can compare them without hunting for the right one.

How to use Vehicle Unit Converter

  1. 1

Open Vehicle Unit Converter on AltFTool — it loads instantly in your browser.

  2. 2

Choose your convert at the top: Fuel economy, Speed limit, Speed. On a phone it is a drop-down list.

  3. 3

Fill in the vehicle unit converter for that convert; each of the 3 options keeps its own rules, data and defaults.

  4. 4

Read the result, then switch convert to compare. The page link keeps your convert (?v=fuel-economy), so you can bookmark or share it.

Why use Vehicle Unit Converter

  • All 3 in one place

Fuel economy, Speed limit, Speed and the rest sit behind one picker, so switching convert takes a tap instead of a new search.

  • Built for each option

Every convert keeps its own rules, numbers and defaults rather than one generic template.

  • Shareable view

The link remembers the convert you picked, so a bookmark or a shared link opens straight on it.

Common use cases

  • Reading a US road-test mpg figure when your own car's economy is quoted in km/l.
  • Work out what a 100 km/h motorway sign in France means for a driver used to reading mph.
  • Read a speed limit sign abroad in mph and know what to hold on a km/h speedometer.

Frequently asked questions

Which convert options does this tool cover?

3: Fuel economy, Speed limit, Speed. Pick one at the top of the tool; the page link updates (for example ?v=fuel-economy) so you can bookmark or share that exact view.

How do I convert km/l to litres per 100 km?

Divide 100 by the km/l figure: 15 km/l is 100 ÷ 15 = 6.67 l/100 km. The relationship is a reciprocal, not a scaling, so improvements at the efficient end matter less than they look — going from 20 to 25 km/l saves 1 litre per 100 km, while going from 5 to 6 km/l saves 3.3.

How many mph is 100 km/h?

100 km/h is 62.14 mph, found by dividing 100 by 1.609344. A road signed at 100 km/h therefore sits between the 60 mph and 65 mph limits used in mph countries, closer to 60. The conversion is exact because one international mile is defined as 1609.344 metres.
