About this tool
Plan, schedule, and preview social media posts with caption limits and metrics tracking.
The Posting Schedule Planner is a social content calendar that holds each post's title, platform, format, date and time, caption, hashtags, goal and status, and shows the same set of posts as a filterable board, a seven-day week calendar and an analytics view. It is for solo marketers and small teams who are running eight platforms out of a spreadsheet and want caption limits, approval status and published-post metrics in one place. Every post carries a status from Draft, Scheduled, Published, Needs Review or Archived, so what is waiting on sign-off is visible without a separate tracker.
Open Posting Schedule Planner on AltFTool — it loads instantly in your browser.
Press New Post and fill the Post Info tab — Post Title, Platform, Content Type, Campaign Goal, Status, Cover Color and Notes / Next Steps — then Caption & Tags, where a live character count sits beside the platform limits (Instagram 2,200, Twitter/X 280, LinkedIn 3,000, TikTok 2,200, YouTube 5,000, Facebook 63,206) and the hashtag tally.
Set Publish Date and Publish Time on the Schedule tab, add likes, comments and shares on the Metrics tab once the post is out, then press Save Post — Update Post when editing an existing card.
Switch between the Board, Calendar and Analytics tabs: the board searches by title, caption or hashtag and changes a post's status inline, the strip above counts Total, Scheduled, Published, Draft, Review and Archived, and the calendar lays the same posts across seven days.
The content tab lists the real per-platform ceilings — Instagram and TikTok 2,200 characters, X 280, LinkedIn 3,000, YouTube 5,000, Facebook 63,206 — next to the caption box, with a live hashtag count.
The board, the week calendar and the analytics dashboard all read the same posts, so changing a status or a date updates every view instead of forcing you to maintain a second copy.
Each published post takes likes, comments and shares on its metrics tab, and those roll up into totals so you can compare what performed against the goal and format you planned it for.
It varies by platform: X allows 280 characters, Instagram and TikTok 2,200, LinkedIn 3,000, YouTube descriptions 5,000, and Facebook 63,206. The planner shows all six on the caption tab so you can write to the tightest platform in the set.
The planner suggests 5-10 as a working range and counts them live as you type. That is a starting heuristic rather than a platform rule — relevance to the post matters more than hitting a number, and each network's discovery behaviour changes over time.
Yes. Each post has a metrics tab for likes, comments and shares once its status is Published, and the analytics view totals those across the whole plan alongside a per-post engagement figure.
Eight platforms — Instagram, X, LinkedIn, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest and Threads — and ten formats including Reel/Short, Story, Carousel, Text Post, Blog, Podcast, Infographic and Live Stream. Posts are tagged with one of seven goals so you can filter the calendar by intent as well as by channel.
