About this tool
The UAE runs 230 V at 50 Hz on British-style type G sockets, with type C and D legacy outlets — check adapter, fuse and converter need.
This guide decides whether your device needs a plug adapter, a voltage converter, or nothing at all in the United Arab Emirates. The UAE supplies 230 V at 50 Hz and inherited the British wiring system, so the general-purpose outlet is the shuttered BS 1363 type G socket with its fused plug, while the IEC also lists legacy type C and type D round-pin fittings still found in older buildings. Enter your plug type and the voltage range on the label to get the verdict, the current drawn and the correct BS 1362 fuse.

Picks the smallest BS 1362 rating above the appliance current.
Compares the label voltage range against 230 V instead of leaving it to guesswork.
Marks type C and D plugs as fitting only the older round-pin fittings, not the standard socket.
A type G adapter, the three rectangular-pin BS 1363 shape used across the UK and the Gulf. The IEC also lists type C and type D outlets for the UAE, but those are legacy fittings — the socket in almost every hotel room and modern building is type G, and its shutters will not open for a round-pin plug.
230 V at 50 Hz. Anything labelled 100-240V 50/60Hz — nearly every laptop, phone and camera charger — works there with just a plug adapter. A single-voltage 110 V or 120 V appliance from the US or Japan needs a step-down transformer; an adapter alone will destroy it.
Yes. The UAE uses the same BS 1363 type G socket and the same 230 V, 50 Hz supply as the United Kingdom, so a British appliance plugs straight in with no adapter and no converter. Irish, Maltese, Hong Kong, Singaporean and Malaysian type G plugs fit too.
About 2,990 W, since the BS 1363 plug is limited by its 13 A fuse and 13 A at 230 V is roughly 2,990 W. The fuse, not the wall socket, is the real ceiling: fit a 3 A fuse for appliances up to about 690 W, a 5 A fuse up to about 1,150 W and a 13 A fuse above that.
