Look up the postal circle, state and district behind any six-digit Indian PIN code.
PIN Code Region Lookup takes a six-digit Indian postal PIN and returns every post office mapped to it, with its branch type, district, state, postal circle and delivery status. The input is validated against the real format first — six digits with a non-zero leading digit, since India's nine postal zones use 1 through 9 — so a typo is caught before any lookup runs. It is useful whenever an address needs its district and state confirmed from the PIN alone, and it flags that the data comes from a third-party PIN API rather than India Post itself.

Type the PIN into the Lookup field, which opens on 400001. It must be six digits with a non-zero first digit — anything else comes back as "Enter a valid six-digit Indian PIN".

The first digit identifies one of nine postal zones, the first two together give the sub-zone or postal circle, the third narrows it to a sorting district within that circle, and the last three identify the individual delivery post office. That is why no valid PIN starts with 0.
It is India Post's administrative division, generally aligned to a state or group of states — Maharashtra, Karnataka, Delhi and so on. The lookup returns the circle alongside the district and state, which matters on forms that ask for the postal circle specifically.
Branch type distinguishes a Head Office, Sub Office and Branch Office in India Post's hierarchy, and delivery status marks whether that office actually delivers mail or only handles booking. A non-delivery office in your PIN means post for that area is delivered from a different branch.
