About this tool
Solve interactive geography puzzles — identify countries, capitals, flags, and landmarks on a map with scoring and difficulty levels.
Map Puzzle is a timed geography quiz that names a capital city, a continent and one distinguishing fact, then asks you to pick the matching country from four options drawn at random out of a pool of 78. Four difficulty settings control how many questions you face and how long you get: 10 questions at 45 seconds each up to 50 questions at 12 seconds each. It suits students revising world geography, teachers running a quick class round, and anyone wanting to test how many capitals they really know.

Pick a tile under Select Difficulty — Easy is 10 questions at 45 s each, Medium 20 at 30 s, Hard 30 at 20 s, Expert 50 at 12 s.
Each clue card shows the capital, the continent and one fact; click the matching country from four options before the timer reaches zero — a timeout counts as wrong.

Each prompt gives the capital, the continent and a distinguishing fact, so a wrong guess still teaches you something specific about the country.
Once you are on a run, correct answers score double, so accuracy in sequence is rewarded more than a scattered set of lucky guesses.
The end-of-round report lists every question, whether you got it right, the correct answer and its fact, and can be copied or downloaded as a text file.
Easy is 10 questions at 45 seconds each, medium is 20 at 30 seconds, hard is 30 at 20 seconds and expert is 50 at 12 seconds. The clock resets at the start of every question, and running out counts as a wrong answer.
One point for a correct answer, and two points once you already have a streak of two or more, so the third consecutive correct answer and every one after it is worth double. Your best streak of the round is tracked separately from the score.
78, spanning every inhabited continent, and each round draws a random subset without repeats. Since expert mode uses 50 of them, no two expert rounds cover the same set.
No, every question is multiple choice with four options: the correct country plus three others picked at random from the same pool. That keeps the round moving at the pace the timer sets.
