About this tool
Work out late filing fees for income tax returns under Section 234F, belated returns, GST late fee and interest, and late payment fees on invoices.
Pick the late fee, enter due and actual dates and the amount, and see what is owed. This page brings together 5 separate late fee calculator pages (Belated ITR, Freelance payment tracker, GST, Invoice, ITR late fee (234F)) so you can compare them without hunting for the right one.
Open Late Fee Calculator on AltFTool — it loads instantly in your browser.
Choose your late fee at the top: Belated ITR, Freelance payment tracker, GST, Invoice and 1 more. On a phone it is a drop-down list.
Fill in the late fee calculator for that late fee; each of the 5 options keeps its own rules, data and defaults.
Read the result, then switch late fee to compare. The page link keeps your late fee (?v=belated-itr), so you can bookmark or share it.
Belated ITR, Freelance payment tracker, GST and the rest sit behind one picker, so switching late fee takes a tap instead of a new search.
Every late fee keeps its own rules, numbers and defaults rather than one generic template.
The link remembers the late fee you picked, so a bookmark or a shared link opens straight on it.
5: Belated ITR, Freelance payment tracker, GST, Invoice, ITR late fee (234F). Pick one at the top of the tool; the page link updates (for example ?v=belated-itr) so you can bookmark or share that exact view.
Section 234F charges ₹5,000 for a return filed after the due date, reduced to ₹1,000 where total income does not exceed ₹5,00,000. No fee applies if your income is below the basic exemption limit and you were not otherwise required to file.
One line per invoice with eight fields separated by the pipe character: Invoice number, Client, Issued date, Due date, Amount, Paid date or status, the agreed late-fee term, and the evidence for it. Rows with any field blank are counted as incomplete.
For a regular GSTR-3B or GSTR-1 it is ₹50 per day combined — ₹25 under CGST and ₹25 under SGST. A nil return is charged ₹20 per day combined and is capped at ₹500. GSTR-9 is different: it runs at 0.04% of annual turnover per day.
Multiply the outstanding amount by the annual rate, then by the days late divided by the days in a year for your basis. On a 100,000 invoice at 12% paid 30 days late on actual/365 that is 100,000 × 0.12 × 30/365 = 986.30.
Rs 5,000 under section 234F if your total income exceeds Rs 5,00,000, and Rs 1,000 if it does not. The two-tier Rs 5,000 / Rs 10,000 structure that existed earlier was replaced by this single Rs 5,000 ceiling by the Finance Act, 2021, applicable from assessment year 2021-22.
