About this tool
See which posts each major Indian recruitment exam leads to, with pay level, entry basic pay and job profile.
This explorer maps India's major recruitment exams — UPSC CSE, SSC CGL and CHSL, RRB NTPC and Group D, IBPS PO and Clerk, RBI Grade B, UPSC CAPF and NDA — to the actual posts they lead to, showing each post's 7th Central Pay Commission pay level, entry basic pay and a one-line job profile. It is built for aspirants choosing which exam to prepare for, or filling post-preference forms, who want to compare what the jobs actually are before committing a year of preparation.

Every CPC-scale post shows its 7th CPC level and the entry basic pay behind it, from Rs 18,000 at Level 1 to Rs 56,100 at Level 10.
Each post carries a one-line description of the actual work — desk, field, shift or command.
Search by post name or sector to see every exam that leads to that kind of job in one view.
SSC CGL fills Group B and C posts across central ministries and departments: Assistant Section Officer, Inspector of Income Tax, Inspector of Central GST & Excise and CBI Sub-Inspector at Pay Level 7 (entry basic Rs 44,900), Auditor at Level 5 (Rs 29,200), and Tax Assistant at Level 4 (Rs 25,500), among others. The exact post list and vacancies change with every year's notification.
Entry basic pay at Level 7 is Rs 44,900 per month. Gross salary adds dearness allowance, house rent allowance and other admissible allowances on top, so in-hand pay varies by posting city and current DA rate.
No. Public sector bank pay is set by bipartite settlements between banks and unions (and RBI has its own scale), not by the Central Pay Commission. That is why bank and RBI posts in this explorer show their own scale instead of a CPC level.
Only the UPSC Civil Services Examination recruits to the Indian Administrative Service. New entrants join at Junior Time Scale, Pay Level 10 of the pay matrix (entry basic Rs 56,100), and the same exam also fills IPS, IFS, IRS and around twenty other Group A services based on rank and preference.
