About this tool
See the interest you save by transferring a loan to a lower rate, net of processing fees, plus the break-even month.
The Balance Transfer Savings Calculator tells you whether moving your home, car or personal loan to a cheaper lender is actually worth it. It rebuilds your current EMI from the outstanding balance and remaining tenure, prices the same balance at the new rate, then subtracts the processing fee and legal or valuation charges to give a net figure. It also splits the two ways to take the benefit — a lower EMI over the same tenure, or the same EMI with an earlier closure — and shows the month the fee is recovered.

Keeping the old EMI almost always saves more than taking a lower one — the numbers make it explicit.
As a rule of thumb, a gap of at least 0.5 percentage points with a substantial balance and several years remaining. The real test is the break-even month this calculator shows — if it is longer than you plan to keep the loan, do not switch.
For floating-rate loans taken by individuals for non-business purposes, RBI prohibits foreclosure and prepayment charges. Fixed-rate loans and many business or personal loans can still carry a penalty of roughly 2% to 5% of the outstanding.
A lower rate with an unchanged EMI pushes more of every instalment into principal, so the loan closes years earlier and total interest falls far more than under the lower-EMI option. The tool quantifies both.
Typically a legal and technical valuation fee, franking or stamp duty on the fresh loan agreement, MOD charges in some states, and GST on the processing fee. Enter them in the charges box for a true net figure.
