Connect Galaxy Buds to a phone with the Galaxy Wearable app

Galaxy Buds pair fastest through the Galaxy Wearable app, which pops up automatically on Samsung Galaxy phones when the case is opened nearby, and handles everything from touch controls to firmware in one place afterward.

What you should know

  • Install the Galaxy Wearable app from the Galaxy Store (it's preinstalled on most Galaxy phones), then open it and tap Start the app.
  • With Bluetooth on, open the earbuds case lid near the phone; a pairing card appears at the top of the screen — tap Connect.
  • To add the buds to a second phone, open Galaxy Wearable on that phone, tap the device name at the top of the home screen, tap the plus icon, and select New device.
  • On a non-Samsung Android phone or a phone without Galaxy Wearable preinstalled, manually pair from Settings > Connections > Bluetooth after taking the buds out of the case.
  • On iPhone, install the separate 'Galaxy Buds' app from the App Store — basic pairing, battery status, and firmware updates work, but touch-control remapping and Labs features don't.

Only one phone can hold an active Bluetooth audio connection at a time; pairing to a second device doesn't disconnect the first automatically.

Why it matters

Pairing through Galaxy Wearable (rather than only through the phone's generic Bluetooth menu) is what unlocks touch-control customization, equalizer presets, and firmware updates — buds paired purely as a generic Bluetooth headset will still play audio but stay stuck on default settings.

Best practices

  • Charge the buds above 15% before a first pairing so the setup sequence doesn't get interrupted mid-way.
  • Keep the case lid open until the Galaxy Wearable pairing card confirms a successful connection.
  • Forget old Bluetooth pairings for the same buds on other phones if the pairing card doesn't appear, since a stale pairing can block the popup.

Common problems and fixes

The pairing popup never appears when the case is opened
Close the Galaxy Wearable app fully, confirm Bluetooth is on, close the case, wait 10 seconds, and reopen it near the phone.
Buds pair but Galaxy Wearable says 'Not connected'
Remove the buds pairing from Settings > Connections > Bluetooth, restart the phone's Bluetooth toggle, and pair again from Galaxy Wearable.

Tips and tricks

  • Placing both earbuds back in the case and holding the button inside the case for 5+ seconds until the LED flashes resets the pairing state if it becomes unreliable.

Frequently asked questions

Can Galaxy Buds connect to two devices at once?

No — Galaxy Buds hold one active audio connection at a time, though many models support quick auto-switching if both devices are signed into the same Samsung account.
