How to Stack Coupons, Cashback and Loyalty Rewards
Stacking means combining more than one saving on the same purchase, for example a store sale, a coupon, a cashback portal and loyalty points. It works when the rules allow it, and the order matters.

The usual layers
- The store's own sale price.
- A coupon or promo code (store or manufacturer).
- Cashback, from a shopping portal or a card offer.
- Loyalty points or rewards from the store's program.
Why the order matters
Two percentage discounts do not add up. 20% off and then 10% off is 28% off in total, not 30%, because the second discount applies to the already reduced price. A cascading discount calculator shows the real total.
The catches
- Many coupons say "cannot be combined with other offers". Read the terms before you plan around them.
- Using a promo code from a third-party site can cancel cashback from a portal. Check the portal's rules.
- Cashback can take weeks to confirm and can be reversed if you return the item.
- Points have value only if you redeem them. Check expiry dates.
- A saving on something you would not have bought is not a saving.
