The text side of the Internet Archive holds scanned books, periodicals, government reports, zines, technical manuals and school textbooks, searchable by their full contents rather than by title alone. A great many items were digitised straight from library shelves and exist nowhere else online.
Full-text search across millions of scans means you can locate a phrase buried inside a 1937 trade catalogue, which is how a ten-minute lookup becomes an afternoon.
