Every one of the 345 sites here was opened, used and written up by hand. Nothing is scraped, nobody can pay to be listed, and dead links come out rather than sitting in the list. This page is the whole method, so you can decide how much to trust the rest of it.

The process
The same five happen to every entry, including the ones that came from a listicle we were superseding.
Candidates come from the classic best-of lists, from the small-web directories that predate us, from the people who make this sort of thing, and from a lot of following links sideways. Nothing is scraped and no submission queue feeds the catalog.
Every candidate is loaded and actually used — the game gets played, the generator gets run, the sound gets turned on. A site nobody here has used does not get an entry, which is the single rule that keeps the directory honest.
Each entry gets an original description and a specific reason to open it. Nothing is copied from the site's own marketing copy, its meta description, or any listicle. If we cannot name what is good about it in one sentence, that is usually a sign it should not be listed.
It lands in exactly one of 18 categories, gets one of 4 time bands for how long it takes to be worth it, and up to three of 12 vibe tags. The 8 collections are then derived from those fields rather than hand-assembled, so they cannot drift out of date.
Links rot. The whole catalog was last swept on 29 July 2026. Anything that has died since comes out rather than sitting in the list as a broken promise, and the notable losses are recorded on the sites we lost page.
