AltF Flow recipe
Split long text into numbered thread posts
To turn a long draft into a thread, join it into one paragraph, cut it at word boundaries into pieces that fit the post limit, and number each piece. This recipe wraps at 270 characters so the 1/ style prefix still fits under 280, and keeps whole words together. Each output line is one post, in order.

Worked example
We tested four ways to onboard new users to our sample app over six weeks. The short version: a checklist that appears after sign-up beat a product tour, a welcome email series and an empty dashboard with tips. Why it worked: users could see how much was left, skip steps they already knew and come back later without losing progress. The product tour, by contrast, was dismissed by most people in the first ten seconds. What we would change next time: start measuring a week earlier, and test the wording of each checklist item separately rather than all at once.

Why each step is there
- Remove line breaks joins the paragraphs, so the wrap step can fill each post instead of ending one at every paragraph.
- Collapse repeated spaces avoids wasting characters on double spaces.
- Wrap at a width of 270 breaks at the last space before the limit.
- Number lines adds 1/, 2/, 3/ in front, which takes 3 to 4 characters.
Adjusting the width
Lower the width if you want room for a hashtag or link in each post, or raise it for platforms with longer limits. Some platforms count links and certain characters differently from plain length, so check the longest post with a character counter before publishing.
Split text into numbered posts: questions and answers
Can I keep paragraph breaks as post breaks?
Yes. Delete the first step; each paragraph then starts a new post, and Number lines skips the blank lines between them.
Can I show the total, like 1/5?
Not automatically. Add a Find and replace step afterwards that changes "/ " to "/5 " once you know the count.
Does it post anything for me?
No. Flow has no accounts or integrations; copy each line into your app.
