How we build and check the backlinks list

Every number on the list is either something we checked, something the site says about itself, or an estimate we label as one. This page says which is which.

Where entries come from

The list started as a research sheet kept over months of listing real products: 1,414 entries come from that sheet's history. Another 717 were added by editorial curation, where we looked for well-known places a category was missing. Each entry is normalised into one shape (category, cost, effort, link type) by rules shared with our admin tools, so the same text always lands in the same bucket. 16 sheet rows were skipped on the last import because they had no usable submit link.

Nothing is scraped, and no entry is listed because a site paid for it.

What “submission path checked” means

We open the site's own page and confirm that the way to submit, sign up or contribute exists and works as described. It does not mean we were accepted, and it says nothing about how long approval takes.

Path checked · 610 entries
We checked that the submission path on the site's own page exists and works as described.
Path checked, conditions apply · 201 entries
We checked the submission path; the site only accepts entries that meet its stated conditions.
Not yet checked by us · 1,320 entries
Listed from research; nobody has re-checked the submission path by hand yet.

783 checks carry the date they were made, and each entry page links the page the check was made against where we recorded it.

Link type (dofollow, nofollow, sometimes dofollow) is recorded per domain, for what a normal listing on that site usually gets. It comes from the site's published policy or our own observation of live listings. It is never guessed: 1,344 entries say “Link type unknown” because we do not know yet.

  • When the site states its policy, we link to that statement (2 entries so far).
  • When a site's own rules mention a link type (137 entries), we publish that as a separate, unconfirmed report.
  • When the rules contradict our record, the entry is flagged as disputed rather than quietly “corrected” (7 entries). Disputed entries are left out of every dofollow count and list.

Sites change their rel attributes without notice. Check your live listing.

Estimated DA

“est. DA” is an estimate of domain authority on a third-party-style 0–100 scale, rounded to the nearest 5. We say it plainly: it is not a reading from a named provider, it has no measurement date, and it is not a Google metric. It comes from our own domain-facts file and is there to compare sites with each other. 1,562 of 2,131 entries have one; the rest show no number rather than a made-up one.

The value score

Each entry has a 1–100 score for how much a typical visitor gets for their effort. It is a queueing aid, not a measure of authority, and every part of it is shown below with the exact weights the list uses.

PartPoints
Authorityest. DA × 0.35 (up to 35); unrated sites get 12
EaseQuick 25 · Moderate 15 · Involved 6
CostFree 20 · Free + paid tier 15 · Not stated 8 · Paid 3
CheckedPath checked in the last 180 days 20 · checked earlier 13 · conditions apply −4 · not checked 5
AvailabilityPaused or closed −40

The parts are added, rounded and kept between 1 and 100. Example: an est. DA 90 site that is free, quick and was checked recently scores 90 × 0.35 + 25 + 20 + 20 = 96.5, shown as 97.

Updates and re-checks

The catalogue was last updated on 6 November 2026. Re-checks are recorded per entry with their own date (3 so far), and a site that stops taking submissions is marked paused or closed (1 now) instead of being silently removed, so anyone who bookmarked it finds out why. The open dataset carries the same dates.

What we leave out

  • Link farms, private blog networks and directories that exist only to sell links.
  • Paid link schemes: bulk link packages, “guaranteed DA” offers and paid guest posts sold as editorial.
  • Programmes that have closed or paused for good, once we have confirmed it on the site.
  • Anything that asks you to hide that a link was paid for.

Paid listings that are honest about it (a featured slot, a review platform's paid tier) stay, marked as paid.

Corrections

If an entry is wrong — the site closed, the price changed, the link type is different or the submit link is broken — tell us and we will re-check it against the site's own page. No account or email needed.
