APK checksum questions
Is my APK uploaded?
No. Your browser reads the file and computes the SHA-256 with the built-in Web Crypto API. Nothing is sent to AltFTool or anyone else.
Can I check APKs that are not from AltFTool?
Yes, the checker shows the SHA-256 of any file. It can only say 'match' for AltFTool apps, so compare other hashes with the value on that developer's own page.
Where do I find the official SHA-256?
Every AltFTool app page lists the SHA-256 of the current APK next to the download button, with a copy button.
Is MD5 or SHA-1 good enough?
Use SHA-256. MD5 and SHA-1 have known collision attacks, so two different files can be made to share a fingerprint.
