About Temperature Converter

The temperature converter translates a reading between Celsius (°C), Fahrenheit (°F) and Kelvin (K). Unlike length or weight, temperature scales do not share a zero point, so conversion is not a simple multiply.

The tool converts your input to Celsius first, then to the target scale, so any pair of units converts correctly.

Formula

• °C — temperature in Celsius
• °F — temperature in Fahrenheit
• K — temperature in Kelvin

Reverse: °C = (°F − 32) × 5/9 and °C = K − 273.15.

How to use it

1. Enter the temperature value (it can be negative).
2. Select the scale you are converting from and to.
3. Read the result plus the equivalent in all three scales.
4. Use swap to reverse the conversion.

Good to know

• Water freezes at 0 °C = 32 °F = 273.15 K and boils at 100 °C = 212 °F = 373.15 K at sea level.
• −40 °C equals −40 °F — the one point where the two scales meet.
• Kelvin has no negative values: 0 K (absolute zero) is the coldest possible temperature, −273.15 °C.
