Simplify and solve ratios.
A ratio calculator simplifies a ratio to its lowest terms, scales it up or down, and solves for a missing value in an equivalent ratio (a proportion).
Ratios compare quantities — mixing paint, scaling recipes, aspect ratios or map scales — and simplifying them makes the relationship easy to read.
Divide both numbers by their greatest common divisor. For 18:24 the GCD is 6, giving 3:4.
Cross-multiply. If a/b = c/d and one value is unknown, rearrange to find it, e.g. d = c × b / a.
It is the ratio of width to height, such as 16:9 for widescreen video, describing shape independently of actual size.
