Multiply: (a·c)/(b·d). Divide: (a·d)/(b·c) — the same as multiplying by the reciprocal of the second fraction.
Give them a common denominator by cross-multiplying: a/b + c/d = (a·d + c·b) / (b·d). The calculator does this for you and then simplifies.
A whole number combined with a proper fraction, such as 7/3 = 2 1/3. It is shown whenever the result is an improper fraction.
