Signature Maker: what you'd pay elsewhere

AltFTool's Signature Maker turns a drawn, typed or photographed signature into a trimmed transparent PNG, a JPG or an SVG, free. It is not an e-signature service. DocuSign eSignature Personal is US$11/month on an annual plan (US$132/year) for 5 envelopes a month, and what that buys is a signing workflow with an audit trail, which an image of your signature does not provide.

Biggest trade-off
No legally tracked signing. There is no audit trail, signer identity check, tamper-evident seal or certificate of completion, so this does not replace DocuSign for contracts that need them.

What each free tier actually allows

Whether you need to pay at all depends on where the free plan's ceiling sits. Here it is in each vendor's own terms.

  • No free plan is listed on the eSignature pricing page. The page invites visitors to try eSignature free but states no trial length.

What the free Signature Maker does not do

A comparison that cannot say what its own tool gives up is an advert.

  • No legally tracked signing. There is no audit trail, signer identity check, tamper-evident seal or certificate of completion, so this does not replace DocuSign for contracts that need them.
  • It does not place the signature into a PDF. You get an image and insert it yourself with another tool.
  • No sending documents to other people to sign, no reminders and no signing order.
  • Typed signatures can only use fonts installed on your device, so the choice differs between computers.

What the free Signature Maker does

  • Draw with a mouse or finger, type in a handwriting-style font found on your device, or upload a photo of a signature on paper
  • Trims and sizes the result, including presets for exam and government forms (140×60), email signatures and print
  • Exports transparent PNG, white-background JPG or SVG, all made in your browser

Questions people actually ask

Is a signature image legally binding?

That depends on the jurisdiction and the document, and we cannot advise on it. An image proves nothing about who placed it. E-signature services such as DocuSign record who signed, when and from where, which is why contracts that need evidence of signing go through them.
