About this fake instagram dm generator
Want a pretend Instagram direct message for a meme or a sketch? This fake Instagram DM generator recreates the look of an IG chat thread: a profile header with name, handle and optional badge, then purple-gradient bubbles on your side and grey ones on theirs. Type the conversation and the preview updates as you go.
Start from a preset such as 'My plant went viral' or write your own story from scratch. The image you export is stamped with a small Prank watermark, your work stays on your own device, and the whole thing is meant for laughs, parody and creative projects, never for misleading anyone.
How to make a fake Instagram DM (for fun)
- Pick a prank idea. Start from one of 4 ready-made ideas, or keep the default instagram dm.
- Edit the details. Change names, avatar, messages, times, counts and theme in the Content panel — the preview updates as you type.
- Check the preview. On a phone, switch to the Preview tab; the mockup scales to fit your screen.
- Download or share. Save a PNG or JPG at 2x or 3x, copy it, or share it straight from your phone. Then reveal the joke!

Keep it a joke. Mockly makes parody images for fun. Never use a mockup to deceive, defame, harass or defraud anyone, and don't pose as a real person's or brand's official account. Every export carries a small “Prank · altftool.com” watermark. Not affiliated with Instagram or any app shown.
FAQ
Can I show a verified badge?
There is a badge toggle for parody and fictional accounts. Please don't use it to pose as a real creator, brand or public figure.
Do I need an Instagram account?
No. Mockly doesn't connect to Instagram at all. You type everything yourself and the preview is drawn locally in your browser.
Is a fake Instagram DM legal?
For harmless jokes and parody, yes. Using a fake DM to deceive, harass, defame or scam someone may be illegal and violates platform rules, so keep it friendly.
Is there a watermark?
Yes, a small 'Prank · altftool.com' mark is added to every export so the image can always be identified as a mockup.
Is the Instagram DM generator free?
Yes. It is free with no sign-up and no limit, and it runs entirely in your browser — your text and images never leave your device.
Will people know it's fake?
They should. Every image carries a small “Prank · altftool.com” watermark, and a good prank is revealed quickly. Mockly is for parody and fun, never for deceiving anyone.
Is it legal to make a fake Instagram DM screenshot?
Making a parody image for a joke is generally fine. Using one to deceive, defame, harass, impersonate or defraud someone can be illegal and breaks every platform's rules — so don't.
