Upscale Image: what you'd pay elsewhere

AltFTool's Upscale Image enlarges a picture by 1.5x to 8x (up to 40 megapixels) in your browser, free, using classic Lanczos or bicubic resampling with optional sharpening. It is not AI and it does not invent detail. Let's Enhance, an AI upscaler, is $12/month for 100 credits billed monthly, and its free plan is 10 credits with a watermark.

Biggest trade-off
This is interpolation, not AI. It makes a larger, smooth image; it cannot recover faces, text or texture the way an AI upscaler such as Let's Enhance can. If you need a blurry photo to look sharp, it will not do that.

Let's Enhance

USD list price

AI image upscaling and enhancement in the browser, paid per image in credits.

Entry price

$12/month for 100 credits

Starter, monthly billing ($9/month on annual billing); Pro 300 credits $32/month ($24 annual), Max 500 credits $45/month ($34 annual)

Free tier

10 free credits on signup, watermarked output, upscale up to 8 megapixels.

'1 image = 1 credit', so a plan is an image quota, not unlimited use. The page uses '$' with no currency code. A pay-as-you-go tab exists but showed no bundle prices.

What each free tier actually allows

Whether you need to pay at all depends on where the free plan's ceiling sits. Here it is in each vendor's own terms.

Let's Enhance

USD list price
  • 10 free credits on signing up, 'No credit card needed'. Free output carries a watermark ('removed for paid users', which also applies to images enhanced with free credits). Input image up to 24 megapixels or 50 MB; 'Upscale up to 8 megapixels' on the free plan.

What the free Upscale Image does not do

A comparison that cannot say what its own tool gives up is an advert.

  • This is interpolation, not AI. It makes a larger, smooth image; it cannot recover faces, text or texture the way an AI upscaler such as Let's Enhance can. If you need a blurry photo to look sharp, it will not do that.
  • Output is capped at 40 megapixels, because a larger image does not fit reliably in a browser tab's memory.
  • One image at a time, with no batch queue, no API and no face or noise-recovery models.

What the free Upscale Image does

  • Choice of Lanczos-3, bicubic, bilinear or nearest-neighbour (for pixel art) resampling, plus an optional unsharp-mask sharpen
  • Preset factors from 1.5x to 8x, transparent images handled correctly, and export to PNG, JPEG or WebP
  • All the maths runs in the tab on the decoded pixels; nothing is uploaded and there is no watermark

Questions people actually ask

Is this an AI upscaler?

No, and we would rather say it plainly. It uses standard resampling filters (Lanczos, bicubic) of the kind image editors have always had. For a clean graphic or a modest enlargement that is often enough. For restoring a low-resolution photo, an AI upscaler such as Let's Enhance will give a visibly better result.
