03 / METHODOLOGY

How we ranked it.

The same five steps produce every Top 15, including this Social Media list.

  1. 01

    Collect the signals

Search interest, published coverage and platform activity are gathered across each category, hour by hour.

  2. 02

    Weight momentum

Week-over-week change matters more than a single spike, so a story that is still building outranks one that peaked and fell.

  3. 03

    Normalise reach

Volume is compared inside the category, never across it — a large travel story and a large gaming story are measured against their own peers.

  4. 04

    Check the spread

An entry carried by one outlet is treated differently from one covered widely. Concentration is recorded, not hidden.

  5. 05

    Editorial review

An editor reads the ordering before it publishes, and the strengths and tradeoffs shown on each entry are drawn from that entry's own measurements.

A score here measures attention, not quality. It says how strongly a subject is being searched, covered and shared inside Social Media this week — which is a different question from whether it is the best of its kind, and we do not claim to answer that one.
