How to Use Coupon Codes (and Why They Fail)
A step-by-step guide to using coupon codes on Indian shopping sites, why a code says invalid, coupons vs bank offers, and how AltFTool lists offers.
Using a coupon code in five steps

Open the store page
Find the store on AltFTool and read the offer's terms: minimum order, eligible products, new or existing customers, and the expiry date.

Reveal and copy the code
Press Show code. The code is copied to your clipboard and the store opens in a new tab.

Add items to your cart
Add what you planned to buy. Check that the items are eligible; many codes exclude products already on sale or certain brands.

Apply at checkout
Paste the code in the 'Apply coupon' or 'Promo code' box in the cart or at payment. The discount should show before you pay.

Compare the final amount
Check the total after delivery, platform and convenience fees. If a bank offer applies too, choose the payment method that gives the lower final amount.
When there is no code: other ways stores discount
Bank card offers
Most Indian stores give an instant discount for paying with a particular bank's credit or debit card during sales. The offer is listed on the product page or at payment, usually with a minimum order and a maximum discount.
First-order offers
Apps often reserve their best offer for a new account's first order. It is shown in the app's offers or coupons section and normally works once per phone number or payment method.
Sale seasons
Festive season, end-of-season and app-anniversary sales bring the deepest discounts of the year. Wishlist items early and compare the sale price with the price a few weeks before.
Cashback and rewards
Payment apps and cards pay back part of the price as points or wallet balance. Check how the cashback is paid and when it expires before treating it as a discount.
Student and member pricing
Free brand memberships and student verification schemes unlock member prices, free shipping or early sale access on many stores.
Price history
A 'sale' is only a saving if the price is lower than usual. Tracking a product for a couple of weeks, or using a price history tool, shows the real normal price.
Coupon code problems, answered
Why does a coupon code say it is invalid?
The most common reasons are an expired code, a minimum order not reached, an excluded product in the cart, a code limited to new customers, or a code tied to a specific payment method or app. Read the terms on the store page and in the cart message.
Can I use two coupon codes on one order?
Usually not. Most stores accept one coupon per order, but a bank card offer or cashback can often be combined with it because it is applied at payment, not as a coupon.
What is the difference between a coupon and a deal?
A coupon needs a code typed at checkout. A deal is a discount the store applies by itself, for example a sale price or a bank offer at payment, so there is nothing to copy.
Is 'flat' different from 'up to'?
Yes. A flat discount applies to every eligible item. 'Up to' means the stated figure is the highest discount on some items; most items will be discounted less.
Are bank offers better than coupons?
It depends on the order. Bank offers often have a higher cap on big purchases, coupons often work better on small orders. Work out the final amount both ways.
