Object As Protagonist

Create a story in which the protagonist is an object rather than a person — following [PRODUCT_NAME] as it passes through many hands. The structure lets a very short film cover years, because the object provides continuity while everything around it changes. THE RULE. [PRODUCT_NAME] holds the same position and roughly the same scale in every single frame. The camera relationship to it never changes. Everything else — the hands, the light, the setting, the era — changes completely between shots. SEVEN STAGES: 1. NEW. The object at the moment of making, on a workbench, unmarked and unused. Clean cool light. 2. GIVEN. Passing between two pairs of hands. Only hands in frame. 3. FIRST USE. In use for its actual purpose, in a domestic setting, warm practical light. The hands are young. 4. WORN. The same object, now visibly marked. Different hands, different setting, different light quality. Time has passed and only the object tells us so. 5. REPAIRED. Someone mending it. Close on the repair itself — this is the emotional centre of the film, because repair implies it was worth keeping. 6. PASSED ON. Handed to different hands again, in another setting. Perhaps smaller hands. 7. AT REST. The object alone, heavily worn, in warm late light, on a surface. Held longest. WHAT CARRIES THE STORY. The accumulating wear on the object, and the changing hands. Never show a face — the film is about the object, and a face would take the story back. Light: progresses from cool and clean to warm and soft across the seven stages. Mood: [MOOD]. [ASPECT_RATIO], runtime [DURATION]. Photoreal, cinematic, consistent framing on the object, shallow depth of field. No text, no faces, no dialogue, no scale changes on the object.
