Compliment Circle
Wellness

The Compliment Circle is a powerful, feel-good activity focused on gratitude and positive reinforcement. In busy work environments, we often forget to acknowledge the hard work of our peers. This structured session ensures everyone receives genuine praise, which significantly boosts morale and emotional well-being. It's a quiet, reflective activity that leaves the team feeling deeply valued.

How to run it

  1. 1.Have everyone sit in a circle.
  2. 2.The first person turns to the person on their right and gives them a genuine, specific compliment.
  3. 3.That person says 'Thank you', and then turns to the person on *their* right to give a compliment.
  4. 4.Continue around the circle until everyone has given and received a compliment.
  5. 5.Alternatively, put a chair in the middle ('the hot seat') and have the group bombard that person with praise for 60 seconds.

Pro Tips

  • Set a serious, respectful tone so people feel comfortable being vulnerable.
  • Encourage specific compliments about a person's character or work ethic, not just their appearance.
  • As a leader, go first to model the depth of compliment expected.
